Installation Notes For "VIETNAM REMEMBERED"
This product uses media base as the search and retrieval system.
Unfortunately the documentation and defaults we selected for
installation combined to cause some difficulty for some users. The
following instructions are designed to help the user install the product
sucessfully and to point out some pitfalls along the way.
1) Check to see if the following two statements are in your AUTOEXEC.BAT
file.
SET MB-TEMP= (some path name)
SET MB-ROM= (some path name)
If these statements are present, remove them with a text editor and
reboot the system.
2) Select the root directory of the CDROM.
Example:
D: followed by the <ENTER> key.
cd \ followed by the <ENTER> key.
3) Run the INSTALL program.
Example: INSTALL followed by the <ENTER> key.
Answer the five questions about the installation as follows:
Which drive contains your AUTOEXEC.BAT file?
Answer: C followed by the <ENTER> key.
Do you want to Create or Modify?
Answer: C followed by the <ENTER> key.
What is the drive letter and path to your hard drive?
Answer: C:\VIETNAM followed by the <ENTER> key.
(note any valid hard drive and path is okay here, but
DO NOT USE DEFALT OF C:\MB!)
What is the drive letter and path to your CDROM drive?
Answer: D:\NAM followed by the <ENTER> key.
(note the CDROM drive letter and path MUST BE used here, and
DO NOT USE DEFALT OF D:\MB!)
At this point the installation will complete. The installation will end
and the program will stop in the selected hard drive and path.
4) Type AUTOCSI to set the required environment variables.
Example: AUTOCSI followed by the <ENTER> key.
Some users may have an error message displayed at this point. "OUT OF
ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE SPACE"
If this occurs it means that you must add environment variable space
with the SHELL command in your CONFIG.SYS file.
A sample command would be: SHELL = C:\COMMAND.COM /E:512 /p After the
shell statement has been added to your CONFIG.SYS you must reboot your
system. (see your MSDOS manual for more info)
Type NAM to start the application.
Example: NAM followed by the <ENTER> key.
